Tandridge Local Plan
UPDATE The latest ‘Regulation 19’ consultation is running until 5pm on Monday 10th September. This is your LAST CHANCE to comment on whether you think the plan is fit for purpose (‘sound’)!
Godstone Parish Council has recently submitted and application to Tandridge District Council to designate the parish of Godstone as a ‘neighbourhood area’ under the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 which, if approved will enable the development of a Neighbourhood Plan to begin. Once the parish of Godstone has an adopted Neighbourhood Plan it will be a legal requirement that the plan is consulted in all planning decisions made by Tandridge District Council. The plan can guide where development is appropriate, what type of development is required, the pace of development and many other things to ensure that development in the parish is appropriate and sustainable.
At the meeting of the Parish Council on the 9th January, it was agreed that the first step should be taken to forming a Neighbourhood Plan with an initial meeting to appoint officers, draft a constitution, form a steering committee and identify initial sub-committees that are needed. Volunteers are needed that have a variety of things to offer ranging from; people who can carry out research, people who can help to put together surveys, people who can write up results, people who can deliver leaflets, people who can help with communication and help to fly the flag of the Neighbourhood Plan at as many events across the parish as possible, to people who just wouldn’t mind making a few cups of tea! (And many more)
The real work starts now. If anyone has an interest in the future of the parish and is prepared to volunteer a little time, no matter how small, everyone will be welcome. Please come along and see how you can help to shape the future of the parish.
