FRIENDS of St NICHOLAS CHURCH, GODSTONE, SURREY

Louvres upper towerThe ‘Friends’ are a group of people who are committed to help maintain our lovely old church in Godstone.  Most are local residents from within, or around Godstone, but some are from a distance away whose link to the church is through friends of family.  The ‘Friends’ main source of income is through the 50/50 Club.

Membership of ‘the friends’, including entry to both the Spring and Autumn 50/50 Club Draw costs just £6.00 per entry per annum.  Half of this sum goes towards the upkeep of our Church, most of the other half is returned to the members as Prizes in each of the Draws – approximately £750.00 is returned to Friends as prizes in each Draw with the top prize being £150.00!  A very small sum is retained to cover essential administrative costs.

Without your support, ‘the Friends’ would not be able to ease the financial burden that St Nicholas has to shoulder in maintaining the fabric of the building and churchyard.  It is a continuous struggle against ever increasing costs and your help is invaluable and very much appreciated.

During the last few years ‘Friends’ have made possible a regular donation of Insurance; nearly £3,000 towards vital repairs to the wall adjacent to the lych gate, plus a further £1,000 towards the installation of new, double glazed windows in S Nicholas’ Youth Centre.
